On the Sunny Side of the Street

well, we're officially entering "coat weather" criteria around here...

we've been wearing our jackets and boots outside all week!

this weekend, we took advantage of the brisk weather and enjoyed a little family walk...

of course, we didn't get very far. 

we just couldn't ignore the perfect stash of leaves just in front of the house next door.

and since B's newest obsession is playing with the abundance of leaves and sticks in this "tree city"
... we obliged her with another session of good, ol' fashioned leaf-throwing.

this all makes me excited for the coming years... when we can rake them up,

and jump into the piles together!

this year, however, i can only imagine that B + rake = toddler disaster!

someone could seriously lose an eye... or a toe.
either way, we'll save that for future years :)

 i'm also pretty psyched that we are quickly approaching halloween!!

it will technically be brynn's 3rd halloween... 

but i think it will be the first one were she understands

the whole process of carving pumpkins and  trick-or-treating.

i can already envision the moment when she realizes, "oh my goodness, people are actually dumping free candy into my tote when i knock on their door... this is awesome!"

it will definitely be an experience for us all.

after all of that fun, we went home and enjoyed a nice warm bowl of chili for lunch...

yum!                      

it all just reminds me of how much i love this time of year. :)
