Speed Dating: Blog Style

Linking up today with This Little Momma {LOVE her blog} to do some "speed dating" with some fantastic bloggers! You should head on over there to link up yourself!!

This Little Momma

Here is the run down of some things you won't find in the about me section...

1. I was born to an auctioneer father and a dental hygienist mother, almost 30 years ago...
So, you might think that I can talk really fast with clean teeth. :)
Not so much... about the "talking fast" part anyway.

2. I am in the middle of two brothers, who have total opposite personalities... But I love them both for who they are! :)

3. Had a little crush on my hubby {from afar} for years before I actually had the nerve to speak to him... I had all but forgotten about him when he started sitting behind me in an elective course we were both taking... He sat behind me every day. I thought it was just because he liked the seat, but I guess, maybe, it wasn't... just the seat?
The first time he tapped me on the shoulder, I almost fell out of my seat.

4. He finally proposed to me four years later, after he realized that I had given up on trying to ruin the "surprise proposal" that he wanted. He was pretty proud of himself for actually surprising me for the first time in my life... I'm not a fan of surprises, but I'll admit that this one wasn't bad! ;)

5. We waited three years to start our family. I always thought I wanted to be a "young" mom, but we both wanted to focus on our careers, and spend a lot of time together. We are both very glad that we waited for our sweet little B... :)

6. In my high school yearbook, my "Destination" says, "A successful business woman, driving my very own Lexus." Oh my, how my perspective has changed... And my favorite music group was evidently "Papa Roach". WHAT?!
I must have had a head transplant somewhere along the way...

{my yearbook page}

7. I am definitely not that girl who got an A+ in Home Economics. I remember being soooo ticked off because my cookies would never turn out the same size, which made my grade suffer.
I'm also not the tidiest of people, but I hate clutter and chaos, which makes being a stay-at-home mom a challenge that I love, especially in a 100 year-old house that is not ours... My husband, however, is a total clean freak. He folds his socks a particular way that intimidates me too much to do it myself... Needless to say, he has grown accustom to folding his own socks.

8. My two besties have been in my life since before kindergarten... They can't get rid of me, no matter how hard they try :)

 9. I love movies based on Jane Austen novels... I can watch Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma almost any day of the week. LOVE!

10. I wear my heart on my sleeve. I can't pretend that something is funny when it isn't, and I can't act like I'm not upset when I am...

11. When I was a little girl, I thought the only athletic "teams" that existed were the Indiana Hoosiers and the St. Louis Cardinals...  It took awhile to figure it all out.

12. I'm the rebel in my family... I constantly pushed boundaries. I was always the one to launch a full-on rebellion against what was expected of me.
And as karma goes, I gave birth to my very own rebel mini-me.
YEA for this momma. :) Karma really will get you every time.

13. I have only smoked one cigarette in my life. In college. Peer pressure sucks.
Obviously, it made a big impression on me, since I'm now a respiratory therapist. And I despise sidestream smoke... Disgusting. I think I could smell cigarette smoke from a block away.

14. I have a "thing" about making phone calls and speaking in public... a big thing! I'm embarrassed to admit that the hubby even has to make the call to order out for food. Don't ask me why I'm so petrified of doing it... But I am.

15. I am probably one of the most impatient people you'll ever meet... Especially when it comes to myself. If I can't manage to do something the first or second time I try, I get really frustrated!
B is exactly the same way :( Bless her heart.

Thanks for stopping by to get to know me a little better!! Have a lovely Tuesday! :)

welcome to babyberry

After watching my blog friends Natalie, Katie, and Megan join up for the UBP, I could no longer resist the urge to meet and mingle with other mommies in the blog world! :)

Hi all! I'm Emily. Mommy to Brynn and furbaby, Ozzie. Wife to Allen.

 I started this blog when I was 13 weeks pregnant with our little B, in an effort to keep our family and friends in-the-loop... And also to avoid making a million phone calls after every appointment. At that time, I was a full-time {plus some} respiratory therapist in the PICU at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. A job that was, and will forever be, my dream job...
{PS I miss you guys!}

 When B was 2 months old, we made a life-altering decision to move from our comfy lives in Indianapolis all the way back to Southern Indiana {a form of time-traveling, if you will...}, to spend our days closer to our families. We broke the news to everyone, and thought we were going to make the transition slowly, but LIFE had a very different plan. As we were making the 4-hour drive between the two locations over the holidays,  Allen received a call that would rock our world... And a job offer that we couldn't refuse!

We were given 90 days to sell our house and MOVE to Southern Indiana... We did it in 60.
{except for the "sell our house" part-- we're still the proud owners of a house we don't live in}

bye-bye Indy!

FAST FORWARD TO NOW

Well, we are a completely different version of the family that we once envisioned... We now live in a quaint little town- the kind with less than 900 people- in a house that is over a hundred years old, which has been in my family for five generations-- And there are always "surprises" around every corner! I gave up my love of pediatrics to stay at home with B, and I'm loving it far more than I ever could have imagined! :)
The transition from Big City workaholic to this small town was difficult at first, but sharing our stories of renovations, DIY crafting, and toddlerhood helped open my eyes to all of the possibilities... And opened my heart to some very special mommies in the blog world! :)

We love our unpredictable life! Whether we are spending time with our families and friends, renovating the house, or just trying to take in every precious moment while our girl grows up at lightning speed... We are always ready for our next adventure!
