A few of our friends have asked us for this recipe in the last month, so when we decided to make our go-to "fast food" meal tonight, I decided that I would share it with all of you too! :)
Our recipe is based on this recipe via Whole Foods, but to make it a little more "toddler-friendly," we tweaked it a little... To give our little foodie a better appetite for it!
Black Bean Burgers
********************************************************
1(15-ouce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 egg
3/4 tsp minced garlic
1/2 cup bread crumbs
fresh oregano
fresh basil
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
drain and rinse black beans
place beans in bowl, mash well
add 1 egg and all the spices, then mix well
stir in the bread crumbs, then shape into patties
heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat
cook on one side for about 5 minutes, then flip and repeat...
transfer to buns, and add cheese, lettuce, tomato, etc!
enjoy!

Our version of "burgers and fries"
A great source of protein...
To make it even more toddler-friendly, we usually cut it up and serve it to B as a plain burger. She absolutely loves them, which is fabulous, since she won't touch red meat yet!
She's a happy customer :)

Pinning it! Sounds yummy! And I love the new blog look.
Great recipe! My hubby likes real meat in his burgers - lol! But this would be great for a night when it's just the kids and me. Thanks for sharing!
Oh my gosh I am soo making this tonight! I will see if my meat eating husband notices:)
I've never even thought of making black bean burgers because we always buy the Morningstar Spicy Black Bean burgers. I might test the waters with those since we have them in our freezer and if they're a hit try to make my own!
