Wordless Wednesday: life in a small town

I know this is supposed to be a wordless post,
but I can't just post these last two photos without an explanation.

The school I went to for 13 years- K through 12- closed yesterday... For good. Forever.
Both sets of my grandparents graduated from there.
Both of my parents graduated from there.
My brothers and I graduated from there.
Bittersweet moment.

1879 - 2012
NHS has a lot of history. It had one of the very first kindergartens in the nation
The first trade school. The first to co-educate.
It was the smallest public high school in Indiana. I graduated with 17 classmates.
Now, it is gone...

After over 10 years living away from New Harmony, it has been such a pleasure to move back and to have Brynn experience all of the perks of growing up in this small town. The school gave the community it's heart beat... And even though it's now gone, we will still pass on the lessons that we learned in our "small school" atmosphere to our children.

{B, watching the "bloons" aka balloons}

Happy Wednesday.

So sad, but nice that you were able to be there! So where will Miss B go to school? Here in Evansville in the same class as Meyer Man? haha;)

Aw, that must have been very bittersweet.

Paityn has that same shirt as Miss B. :) It's definitely speaks the truth for them both!

That is sad... I can't imagine such a tiny graduating class, but what history! I bet your baby girl will love hearing stories about her town from when you were age!
